VISION


Study room or occupied room? The most common situation you'll find in a study room is all the places are occupied, sometimes you can see notebooks but there is no one sat there. Try to come back after one hour and nothing changed! what happens is that some students occupy more than one place in the study room(usually for their lazy friends who will turn up not before the afternoon!), or occupied the place and went to a lecture and will not come back before at least some hours have passed! In the meantime the study room becomes this crowded, chaotic place with people passing by all the time, asking if the places are occupied or not. summing up all these up, the study room(as a facility) loses it's efficiency. So for all the students(those who want to spend their time efficiently studying) here is the solution! It's called study room manager and it will organize and manage in a smart way the places in the study room.An organized environment is also a more quiet environment, so a better environment to study. So the result is not just happier students, because they are efficiently using their time to study without loosing time to find a place, but also school administration since the facilities are properly used by the people who really need it.

The students can occupy the place(he has to log in with his ID and password)from the list of the available places.
For the occupied places recognizes if they are properly used or not, meaning if student occupying the place just left his things and went away. If the student stays away for too long then it's study session will end! Every change should be displayed in the web page to better explain the actual situation in the study room. In a certain way students become more understanding toward each others. Since they won’t use that service, they can end their booking to free the place giving possibility to others to occupy it.In this way the study time is efficiently managed!

AmI STEPS


  • Sensing
    It has to sense if the student showed up in the study room,
    also has to sense if the student left his place or not
  • Acting
    Should update the list of available places in the study room every time someone's study session has ended
    Should show in the desk that the place is free or not (by led)
  • Interacting
    Web interface, the students look for available places and can start or end a study session
    (In version 2.0 we may include notifications sent to the students)
  • Reasoning
    Recognize the status of the session, adjust the status of a seat if the owner who is in a short break has been absent for too long or he/she
    does not come back in his/her return time which is set by himself/herself.

    The students will use the web interface, and study room without having to know about
    the logic running underneath it

    Understanding when the study session must be ended, based on sensor data telling that the student left his place
